英语难学就难在记单词上，如果词汇量足够，英语成绩基本上都很好，因此，记忆单词是学习英语的关键之一。但是很多孩子记不住单词，该怎么办呢？
英语词汇量小己经成了很多孩子英语学习的“瓶颈”，英语难学也就难在记单词，因此，记忆单词是学习英语的关键之一。
我们都知道词汇具有音、形、义三要素，无论汉字还是英语单词都是音、形、义三位一体的，每个汉字和英语单词都有一定的读音，形体(即写法或词形)，意义。
所以记住某一单词的上述三个要素且能够正确运用，就算是基本掌握了这一单词。
因此，孩子学单词时既要能正确读出它的读音，在别人说这个单词时或看到这个单词时，能理解它的词义，而且还要能写出这个单词的词形来。

利用词形记单词
巧用“记忆元”法：“记忆元”是个自创概念，它是英语单词记忆的基础单位。
记忆元分三类：
记忆元多是两三个字母组成的，记忆起来相对难度不大。在记忆元的基础上，运用增加字母的方法拓展成其它单词，进行巧记，就能大大减轻记忆负担，提高效率。
记忆元：and
1、band（乐队、带子）→brand（品牌、商标）→grand（宏伟的、神圣的）→grandfather、grandmother（爷爷、奶奶）
2、hand(手) →handle(把手、操纵) →candle(蜡烛)
3、sand(沙子) →stand(站立) →sandal(凉鞋)
4、land(陆地) →island(岛屿)
记忆元：ear
1、hear（听） →heart（心）
2、dear（亲爱的、珍贵的） →near（在附近、靠近） →tear（眼泪、扯） →fear（害怕） →clear（明白的） →blear（模糊的）
3、bear（熊、忍受） →pear（梨） →wear（穿着）→year（年）
4、earn（挣钱、获得） →learn（学习）→earth（世界、地球、大地）→early （早）
5、gear（齿轮）→rear（饲养）→sear（烧焦）→beard（胡须）→pearl（珍珠）
类似于次，让孩子发挥想象，一个记忆元一般都可以拓展出十几个词了。这样的记忆元大致有五百个，就可以拓展出五千多个单词，背单词会变得简单而自觉很多。
分解单词法
学习英语的时候，常常会碰到一些古怪的不合习惯的单词，我们可以将其分解成容易记忆的、更加合乎习惯的几个部分。
例如：
area（地区）分解成are（是）和a
owe（欠债）分解成o和we（我们）
island（岛）分解成is（是）和land（陆地）
翻转单词法
遇到难记又易忘的单词时，就得多动动脑筋。例如把它翻转一下或倒着看，想想看是否可变成另外一个单词。
例如：
evil（邪恶）——live（居住）
trap（陷阱）——part（部分）
ton（吨）——not（不）
字母调换法
有时也可以用学过的旧单词来记住新单词，将某个单词不同位置上的字母或字母组合调换一下位置，使它变成另一个易于记忆的常用单词。
例如：
peach（桃子）——cheap（便宜）
dear（亲爱的）——read（读）
cheat（欺骗）——teach（教）
deal（处理）——lead（带领）
team（队）——meat（肉）
tale（传说）——late（迟）
melon（瓜）——lemon（柠檬）
对称图像法
可以把这些单词中某些对称的部分单独提出来，作为一个整体进行记忆，这样可以使记忆变得更加直观、轻松、有趣。
例如：
vegetable蔬菜
——v+ege（“对称”）+table桌子
tomorrow明天
——tom汤姆十orro（“对称”）十w
tomato西红柿
——to+ma+to（to相同，中间是ma“马”）
museum博物馆
——mu+se+um（mu与um相反，中间是se）
irrigate灌溉
——irri（“对称”） +gate大门
cabbage大白菜
——c+abba（“对称”） +ge
中间增减字母法
例如：
god上帝——good好
pay付款——play玩
heat热——heart心
wed结婚—— weed杂草
son儿子——soon很快
rot腐烂——root根
lose丢失—— loose松散的
red红色——reed芦苇
run跑——ruin毁灭
brake刹车——bake烘烤
beast野兽——best最好
suit一套 ——sit坐
medal奖章——meal饭食
carve雕刻——care关心
carve雕刻——cave洞
中间变换字母法
例如：
grass草——glass玻璃
bag书包——big大
big大——bug臭虫
bag包—— beg乞讨
bed床——bad坏
fool傻子——feel感觉
